Blackberry E-Mail Setup Documentation (BIS Website)

Main Content

To set up a Blackberry for E-Mail access, the user must first be registered with a Blackberry account through the Blackberry Internet Service (BIS). This is not something that we can do, as it is particular to the user's carrier and device. To assist with this process, however, we can direct the user to the correct BIS website.  RIM has a webpage that directs customers to the appropriate site.  View the list of Blackberry-supported carriers.

The Blackberry can be configured by one of two possible methods for E-Mail access.  The first is through the BIS website, and the second is through the Blackberry itself.

For this example, we will be using the AT&T Wireless branded BIS, but the setup screens are the same across all carriers.
  •  This is what the login page for the BIS looks like.

  • The user should fill in their SIU E-Mail address and their password.

NOTE: When the user updates their SIU Network ID Password, it will also need to be updated here!

  • After the account has been successfully configured, a pop-up box (like this one) will be displayed. (The user's full E-Mail address will be displayed.)

  • If the user needs to modify the details of the account, they can click on Edit in the previous screen.  This is what the settings page looks like.

Note:  Some users may not want the Signature to read "Sent via BlackBerry...." This is where it can be removed.
