Claiming your Network ID
1. In your browser, go to netid.siu.edu.
2. Click on the "New user? Claim your Network ID" link.

3. If you do not know your Dawg Tag, click the "Dawg Tag Lookup" link in the lower left hand corner.
4. Enter the appropriate information in the following fields:
- Legal First Name: enter your legal first name
- Legal Last Name: enter your legal last name
- Birth Date: enter your birthday in the mm/dd/yyyy format
- Dawg Tag: enter your Dawg Tag number, do not include the leading "SIU" (i.e., 85XXXXXXX)
5. Click the "Captcha" box to indicate you are not a robot.

6. After you have read the "Acceptable Use Standard" information, click on the "Accept" button to continue the process.

7. In the section "User Details," click the "Next" button.

8. Enter the answers to each secret question in both the "Answer for Question" and the "Re-type Your Answer for Question" fields.
9. Click the "Submit" button to save your answers.

10. You may view your current answers to the secret questions by clicking the "Show Answers" button.
11. In the “Update personal information” section enter a non-SIU email address and a Recovery Mobile” number to have a PIN sent to for any occasion that you might have forgotten your password.

12. You will need to confirm the contact information provided is accurate. A unique PIN will be sent to each method of contact.
13. Enter the unique PINs in the appropriate fields.
14. Click the "Validate" button.

15. Click the "Close" button to continue to the next step.

16. Craft your new password following the "Password Rules."

17. Enter your new password in the New PAssword and Re-type Password fields.
18. Click the "Reset Password" button.

19. Once the process is complete, it will return you to the initial screen.

Resetting the Password for a Departmental ID

7. Click on the magnifying glass to the right of the "Search" field in the "Select a user" section.

8. Click the radio button to the left of the desired account to modify. Then, click the "Done" button.

9. Scroll down to the "Enter new account password" section and craft a new password following the "Password Rules."

Recovering your Password with PIN
1. In your browser, go to netid.siu.edu.
2. Enter your Network ID (i.e., SIU85XXXXXXX)
3. Click Next.

4. Click "Forgot your password? (PIN password reset)".
5. Enter the appropriate information in the following fields:
- Legal First Name: enter your legal first name
- Legal Last Name: enter your legal last name

- Dawg Tag: enter your Dawg Tag number, do not include the leading "SIU" (i.e., 85XXXXXXX)
6. Click the "Captcha" box to indicate you are not a robot.
7. Click the "By selecting this checkbox you agree..."

9. Select where to send the PIN.
- Cellphone: the PIN is only sent to the pre-identified cellphone.
- Email: the PIN is only sent to the pre-identified email account.
- Both: a unique PIN is sent to the pre-identified cellphone and email account.
10. Click "Send PIN."

12. Enter the PIN(s) in the appropriate field.
13. Click the "Validate" button.

Recovering your Password with Challenge Questions
1. In your browser, go to netid.siu.edu.
2. Enter your Network ID (i.e., SIU85XXXXXXX)

4. Click "Forgot your password? (Answer your secret questions)".
5. Enter the answers to your secret questions in the appropriate fields.

6. If you would like to review your answers before submitting them, click on the "Show Answers" button.
7. When you are certain you have entered the correct answers, click on the "Submit" button.
8. Craft your new password following the "Password Rules."

Updating Your Information in the Network ID Account Management Portal
1. In your browser, go to netid.siu.edu.
2. Enter your Network ID (i.e., SIU85XXXXXXX)
3. Click Next.

4. Enter your current password in the "Password" field.
5. Click the "Sign In" button.

6. Click on the "My Account Password" tab.
7. On the "Profile" tab, you can see your General Information and Employee Information. You may also change your Recovery Information.

8. On the "Set Up Secret Questions" tab, you may view your current answers to the secret questions by clicking the "Show Answers" button.
9. It is also possible to change the answers to the secret questions by entering the new answer in both the “Answer for Question” and the “Re-type Your Answer for Question” fields then click the “Save” button.

10. On the “Preferences” tab you may select your first choice for PIN delivery when resetting your password. To make this choice, select “Preferred method to receive PIN” from the Preference drop-down then click on the “Next” button.
11. In the “Preference value” section click on the radio button to the left of the desired selection then click the “Save” button.

12. On the “Preferences” tab you may select your choice for which tab is visible when you first open the Network ID Management Portal. To make this choice, select “Preferred tab” from the Preference drop-down then click the “Next” button.
13. In the “Preference value” section select the desired tab from the “Preferred tab” drop-down then click the “Save” button.
