Enterprise Systems manages the hardware, data, backup storage, and operating systems for hundreds of University servers, both on and off campus. This includes central, public, and private cloud storage that supports essential business, productivity, and communication systems. Our team of system administrators, operators, and technical specialists ensures flexible, fault-tolerant, and secure server environments that support SIU’s educational and business needs, aligning with the Office of Information Technology's environmental integrity goals.

Routine Maintenance Periods
The Office of Information Technology (OIT) schedules all routine maintenance to minimize disruption to University systems and services. The following maintenance periods have been set up to minimize impact on users.
There may be time when maintenance falls outside of the established maintenance windows—this work is typically low-impact, isolated to select areas, or requested by a department—with prior approval by the OIT Change Advisory Board (CAB).
- General OIT Maintenance Window: 5:00 PM Friday through 12:00 AM Monday
- AIS: 6:00 PM Saturday – 12:00 PM Sunday
- SIS (Banner): 6:00 PM Saturday – 12:00 PM Sunday
- Special CAB Approved Maintenance: 5:00 PM – 8AM (Monday through Friday) will be considered by the CAB if the circumstances warrant.
OIT generally avoids maintenance that will affect the SIS (Banner) systems on Saturdays from 10:00 PM– 6:00 PM.
OIT also takes other specific needs, such as athletic events, campus events, broadcast schedules, vendor availability, department requests, etc., into consideration when scheduling maintenance.
