How long will I have access to my SIU email after graduating or retiring?
As a graduate or retiree, you can keep your SIU email address indefinitely. To maintain access, simply do the following:
Sign in at least once a year.
Your account stays active as long as you log in periodically—at least once every 12 months.
Update your password annually.
University policy requires all SIU account passwords to be changed once every year.
Watch for reminders.
You’ll receive email notifications from NetID as your password nears expiration.
💡Tip: Set a recurring calendar reminder to log in to NetID and update your password each year. This helps prevent any unexpected interruptions.
