DHCP (DYNAMIC HOST CONFIGURATION PROTOCOL)
Network Engineering manages the Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol service for Southern Illinois University. DHCP is used by computers on campus for requesting Internet Protocol parameters, such as an IP address and list of DNS servers.
Departments across campus are encouraged to use the Information Technology managed DHCP servers. Adherence to the preceding conditions helps to avoid conflicts and other connectivity problems for campus users.
DHCP requests are accepted from the LAN admin or IT Technical contact for the department listed here.
Submit a DHCP request for your department at web.tikit.ai/requests. Include the following information in the request:
- Name of the end user or service requesting
- Name of the LAN Admin or IT Technical contact for Department
- Name of Department on Campus
- Phone Number
- Type of Request: DHCP
- Hostname preference
- Description of service
- VLAN or Subnet information if available
