Welcome to Research Computing
The Research Computing and Cyberinfrastructure (RCC) group within the Office of Information Technology supports computationally intense research activities for the University. Our primary resource is BigDawg, the University’s high-performance computing cluster. This 34.7 TeraFLOP supercomputer offers computing speeds comparable to the fastest academic supercomputers in the world—the only difference being our system is smaller than some of these mega-clusters. Unlike many larger institutions where supercomputer time is limited, projects are vetted, and run-time is scheduled, SIU provides access to BigDawg to all researchers and supervised students as requested and free of charge.
