An SSID is a name that is used by the wireless controller in your computer to talk to the network. This is similar to a normal conversation, if your name is called out; you listen and participate in the conversation. If someone else's name is called then you may or may not listen. The SIU Campus has set a few names to be consistent all across the university. They are listed below:
- "eduroam" (without the quotes) for wireless on campus and in residence halls
- "SIU-Guest" (without the quotes) for visitors on campus
- "SIU-limited" (without the quotes) for wireless in residence halls (only for devices not capable of connecting to "eduroam")
Your username is your Network ID (SIU+ your dawgtag number) and the Password field is the 16+ character password associated with this account. For example:
Username: SIU850123456
Password: **************** (your Network ID password)
If you are a student or a faculty or staff member and have not yet claimed your Network ID, you will want to do that first by going to the NetID website. Detailed instructions for claiming your Network ID can be found in our OIT Knowledgebase. If you need additional assistance, please contact SalukiTech at 618-453-5155.
