Frequently Asked Questions

All Passwords/Passphrases will expire 365 days from the last time they were changed.

Password/Passphrase requirements:

• Must be between 16 and 30 characters in length
• Must contain one or more of these special characters: ?.][}{-!*+_~
• Spaces are not allowed
• Cannot be reused
• May include upper case and lower case letters
• May be in the form of a passphrase, e.g. "Fido+1makesthree!"

Passphrases must not:

• Contain your name or username.
• Be a common phrase (e.g., "an arm and a leg" or "between a rock and a hard place").
• Be based on predictable patterns (e.g., "abcdefg" or "123456").

Passphrases are recommended as a secure alternative to password creation.  The use of distinguishing words, separated by one or more non letters, is a good practice.  For example:

• "will_be+Saluki4life" contains four "words", and would therefore be a vaild passphrase.

Click the Login Assistance link on the Log in window to create or reset a Password.

1. When the Login Assistance window opens, enter your User Name and click the Forgot Password button.
   1. User Name for SIUC employees = SIU85xxxxxxx
   2. User Name for SIUSOM employees = your entire email address; UNLESS you are classified as SMC extra help, a Graduate Assistant or Student.
2. When the Confirmation screen appears, click OK. This returns you to the Login screen; after a few minutes, check your email. You should have received an Email from SIU AIS Notification with a Subject Line: FYI: Password Reset .

Reminder to SIUC employees: The system will send an email to your _____@siu.edu email account. Open the email; locate and select the link, Reset your password. Ignore non-essential information in the email, e.g. numbers, etc.

Database Password/Passphrase only: Fifteen (15) days prior to the expiration date, a notice to change your password/passphrase will appear at each login until the pasword/pasphrase is changed.  An email notice will not be sent.

Instructions to Change Your Database Password

There are two ways to change your password.

Option 1

1. After opening Golden, enter your User ID and password.
2. Change Database to: ais
3. Click OK
4. From the Toolbar select:  File --> Change Password
5. Type in your current password.  Then using the password standards, type in a new password and repeat.  Click OK.
6. Click ok again. This confirms that your password has been changed. It will be copied to the AIS Database tomorrow morning.

Option 2

1. After opening Golden, enter your User ID and password.
2. Change Database to: ais
3. Click OK
4. Enter the following syntax, replacing the italicized with the appropriate items. alter user "USERNAME" identified by "Newpass2!" REPLACE "OldPass#1";
5. Run the script.

Get AIS Database Support

Your AIS responsibilities will automatically be revoked 30 days after any one of the changes below. You will need to complete the appropriate AIS User Form to request access for your new responsibilities and submit the e-forms.

•  You moved to a new department and are now under a new Job classification.
•  You moved to a new department and are now under a new Position classification.
•  You moved to a new department and your Job and Position classifications both changed.

The first thing to check is that your parameters are correct. If your report is blank, there was no data found for those parameters. There is nothing wrong with your computer. 

Sometimes there is a special payroll run that only affects a few people. It is possible no one from your department was paid during that payroll run. 

Java™7 Update 71 is the minimum level of Java required to run the AIS application. 

Java™8 is certified with AIS.

AIS is not certified with MACOS 10.14 (Mojave) or newer and Safari 12. Customers using MacOS 10.14 or newer should use Firefox ESR or Google Chrome (per the above table) to access the AIS application.
